Ashlie + Jon | Sparks Lake Anniversary Session

Ashlie reached out to me early in 2020 to schedule a fun, unique session. She wanted to put on her wedding dress again and go take photos somewhere beautiful. So that’s exactly what we did.

After talking to Ashlie and Jon a little bit, they told me that they hadn’t had a lot of portrait time at their wedding so they decided they’d take their outfits and get some photos done just for them. Why not when you spend so much money on your wedding clothes?! A + J live in Washington, but since they have family in Bend, they decided to get photos done in one of the most beautiful places in the area. Only problem? Wildfire.

In September of last year, wildfires ravaged the entire west coast. Central Oregon started getting smokey the day before their session, but because of busy schedules, we had no choice but to make it work. After some deliberation, we still chose to head up the Cascade Lakes Highway and, since the smoke wasn’t quite at its worst yet, we still felt like it was safe enough to tough it out. I’m so glad we did.

Even though we weren’t able to get the iconic mountain views that this area typically delivers, we were still able to make some gorgeous photos. It was a blast because there was hardly anyone around, and A+J both had such great go-with-the-flow attitudes. I’m still so glad we were able to make this session happen so they could have unique and beautiful wedding photos of just them. So if you’re considering an anniversary session, let’s chat.
