Ceci + Josh | Sisters, Oregon Brunch Wedding
I don’t know who decided that weddings need to be in the evening because that trend is about to be thrown out the window. I present to you - the brunch wedding.
Ceci and Josh are sweet friends of mine that I met while working at a local grocery store. They’ve been together for a long time, and engaged for quite a while too, but after facing a couple years of planning hurdles and a pandemic, they finally chose a date and time that was perfect for them to get hitched. It was a beautiful Saturday morning in August.
It was a little smoky from forest fires (dang Oregon summers) but otherwise a perfect day for an intimate wedding. The ceremony was quaint and took place on a farm owned by Ceci’s family friends. They invited only relatives, and Josh’s family was finally able to travel out to Oregon from the midwest for the big day.
We all watched with happy tears as they read their vows, and afterwards we celebrated with mimosas and pastries. We wandered the property for their portraits, through towering ponderosa pines and down to the little river that flows through the nearby woods.
Later that afternoon, as the day cooled off, we traveled back in to Bend for their reception. They invited a few more guests and we all gathered at Monkless Brewing for libations and games. Ceci and Josh had a good ol’ fashioned cake smash and their first dance as husband and wife under the string lights. The whole day was a sweet summertime celebration.
So the next time someone says you have to have and afternoon ceremony, you can tell them to shush. Because brunch weddings are where it’s at.
