Anna + Spencer | Folly Beach Engagement Session

My first time in Charleston was a photographer's dream.

Anna + Spencer are what I would describe as my ideal clients. From our very first phone call, after chatting for over an hour and bonding over our love of travel and adventure (and also weddings and florals), I knew we would work well together. Their wedding plans were eccentric and unique, but traditional in areas that were important to them. They’re both artistic and creative, which made dreaming up their photos so exciting. We started with their engagement session in the spring.

I made my way to Charleston for the first time May 2024. Our plans for their engagement photos were to spend some time at one of their favorite spots, Bar Rollins, grab lunch together, and then head down to Folly Beach. It sounded idyllic…

AND IT WAS.

Bar Rollins is an adorable wine bar in central Charleston (unfortunately closed now but hopefully re-opening) that allowed us to come hang out for about an hour before opening so we could have the place to ourselves! It was such a sweet intimate space, and it gave us a chance to chat and get cozy.

After leaving Bar Rollins, we headed out to Folly Beach area to grab lunch before moseying down the boardwalk and out to the sand. Anna + Spencer changed into their second outfits, the “groutfits” for some goofy photos along the path and the beach, and then for the grand finale, they switched into their last outfits so they could jump into the Atlantic.

Photographing Anna + Spencer was so effortless and fun, and it allowed me a chance to just play. They were relaxed and happy, in love and very much just enjoying the journey of being engaged. As soon as their session was over, I couldn’t wait to be a part of their wedding day. I knew it would be pure magic.
