Garrett + Shannon | Mt. Rainier Adventure Session
Mt. Rainier National Park is one of my favorite places in the world.
When Garrett first contacted me and described his ideal photoshoot, I thought it was a dream. This sweet couple wanted to meet me in Mt. Rainier and frolic around for a day taking photographs with the wildflowers, just because. Talk about #goals. The only issue? We had a short window of time to get these photos done.
The plan was that I would get to Mt. Rainier on a Tuesday evening in August, scout some shooting locations, and then we would meet Wednesday evening for photos around sunset. Well, the forecast called for rain all day Wednesday. And not your average sprinkling showers… like torrential downpour rain. So we hastily rescheduled for Thursday morning (our last hope), and thank goodness we did.
Thursday around noon, we started on the far side of the park where the sun was shining to get the epic mountain views, and then dipped back into the valley for some moody, foggy photos. Along the way, we talked about life, giggling in the car, making the best out of a lengthy drive. I found out that Garrett and Shannon were both medical students, and despite being married, they lived in different states, completing their residencies, hence the short window of time for photographs. They admitted that they only get to spend a few weeks together a year. And they wouldn’t be able to live in the same town again for at least another year or two.
How special that they spent an entire day of their short time together, frolicking around the National Park with me?! It was so special to be trusted to document this time in their lives. These are the reasons why I love this job so dang much. If you want to create some magic like this, get in touch and let’s get planning.
